Corning Hospital This position is part of the Corning Hospital Collective Bargaining Unit Shift Per Diem / As Needed Pay Grade UNH-6 FLSA Status Non-Exempt Main Function Responsible for the scheduling of tests and procedures, coordinating out patient scheduling for the patient's convenience, pre-registering patients, entering charges, charge audit to determine accuracy, problem solving to understand causes of charge errors, and communication of audit results to supervisor and appropriate department heads. Education High school graduate or equivalent with secretarial courses. Experience Must have had some training in medical secretarial duties or appropriate prior medical secretarial experience. Excellent typing skills required 50-60 wpm. Medical terminology course and experience using medical terminology. Data entry experience. Must possess high ethical standards with respect to discretion and regard for confidentiality. Must be able to interact effectively with employees, patients, medical staff and the public on a courteous and tactful manner. May be required to work holidays, weekends, and shifts other than those regularly assigned. Must be able to type and function in a sitting position for prolonged periods.
