Today we offer our customers solutions that feature a seamless blend of diverse technologies, ensuring optimal interfaces, along with flexible implementation and real synergy in innovation.  Alstom Transport has an opening for an industrial engineer at our state-of-the-art railcar manufacturing facility in Hornell, NY.  As an industrial engineer, you will work alongside design engineers to ensure the manufacturability of new and refurbished railcars for several large-scale projects. You will ensure quality, cost and delivery (QCD) commitments are met for respective work packages. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:Interface with production managers during the development phase to validate all steps of the manufacturing process.Design for ManufacturingWork breakdown structuresTime StudiesProcess and logistics flowsContinuous improvement to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve ergonomics/EHSValue stream analysis or process mapping optimizationCreate manufacturing plans in accordance with the site capacity requirements.Create detailed Macro and Micro processes to assure efficient and effective manufacturing processes by interfacing with design documentation and breaking down into efficient subsets for industrial development instructions to the shop floor operators.Provide clear description and design of tooling needed for project execution.Develop project industrial requirement specifications for input into product detailed design for use by design engineering teams.Interface with Supply Chain Development to create logistics plans and efficient methods of material kitting and shop floor presentation.Work with ERP system (SAP) to structure manufacturing bills of material, process sheets and routings to support the most efficient manufacturing practices available.Implement industrial data sheets for co-engineering development to identify product design improvements early in the design phase in order to facilitate manufacturable products with the desired speed to market for manufacturing.Perform concurrent engineering design reviews and analysis to assure manufacturability of product.Ensure an effective return of experience by participating in the co-engineering efforts, implementing detailed industrial requirements into the design and effective follow up through the project life cycle.Lead the First Article Review Inspection(FCCI), assure industrial inputs have been implemented and validated on 1st units manufactured and monitor the action tracker for closure.Maintain a level of accuracy of the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) at 99% by performing regular BOM variance activities during serial production to reduce waste.Provide efficient support to Production to improve the processes and the productivity – through implementation of lean manufacturing principles and ALSTOM standard ways of working.Comply with all company safety and quality programs; ensure manufacturing process is compliant with local, state and federal regulatory ordinances.Qualifications:Associates degree in related engineering discipline (i.e. EET, MET)0-5 years of related industrial engineering experienceExperience with electrical fields, motorsFamiliarity with tooling design and 3D softwareGood mechanical or electrical aptitude and desire to be hands on in the manufacturing areaKnowledge of drafting and CAD tools including AutoCAD, Pro-E, CATIA, Solid Works or other similar software.Proficiency with MS Office applicationsStrong communication skills with English language proficiencyAbility to work effectively on cross-functional teams and interface with all internal and external stakeholdersRequires up to 10% travel (domestic and international)Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial EngineeringExperience with 3D modeling toolsExperience in production floor or facility layoutKnowledge of propulsionKnowledge of CNC programmingExperience with SAP or other ERP systemsFrench language skills  At Alstom we offer you the opportunity to unleash your potential and reinvent yourself.
